I haven't been to the park for more than a week. It seems the fish don't need my help. But, hey, just in case any of them are listening: stick around til I can get there, okay?

There's a small hatchery near us, in an estuary. There's a boardwalk that crosses over the creek, and people stand above to fish, casting their lines down to the salmon.
ReplyDeleteThe seals wait, and snag the fish before the fishermen can. They inspect the salmon, and often reject a salmon as not being acceptable.
We saw salmon in Piper's Creek a week or two ago, they'll probably be coming up for a while. That's a sweet video!
ReplyDeleteLisa, you're where, Bellingham?
ReplyDeleteLuke, yep. I've been watching salmon in the park for six years and never seen one jump successfully. Jealous...
Yep; I've been trying to take pictures of the salmon (and the seals) with my camera and with my iPhone for two years now, with little success.
ReplyDeleteThey're running later this year than last, but we got to see one of the counts again this year--and it was almost three times as many females as last year, so that's good.
