No one has the right to live their life without being shocked

Happy Easter. I grew up Catholic so Easter is all about the chocolate for me. But I know some of you think about god sometimes. Here's an exchange worth noting: Philip Pullman's response to the charge that the title of his latest novel, The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ, is shocking to an 'ordinary Christian'.

(Thanks, Angélique.)

  1. Happy Easter! I'm with you on the chocolate. I'm all for growing smarter. :)

Good response. Kinda fun to shock people sometimes. As long as they don't beat you up too badly in return...

  2. I shock them, they try to beat me, then we have a war! Awesome!

  3. Should that be one major shock a lifetime, or on average of one moderate-to-serious shock every day?

Myself, I'm alternately *un*-shocked at the insanity in the news these days...and VERY shocked by my children every other hour.

Does that sound normal, or am I just human?

  5. I haven't watched this as I am going to hear him speak about it with NPR & don't want to double my experience. Funny how the internet gave me REAL LIFE spoilers.
