A fish with no name

I love this fish:

It’s not just what you say from Word Is Up on Vimeo.

Why? Dunno, I just do. And it's a goldfish. (Geddit? Goldfish? Sterling? Ah, never mind.) Perhaps this is how teams feel about their mascot. But here's the thing: a mascot needs a name.

Suggestions?

  1. One vote for Aurelia. I see him as a boy, I think, possibly a Bob.

  2. I like it.

    Georgie.

  3. Claud. Rhymes with Aud.

  4. Over on Facebook, Angelique has suggested Carassius: taxonomically correct and sounds like a gladiator.

I kind of like it. I also like Clarence and Augustus. There again, 'Bob' is still good.

    Keep 'em coming.

  5. There's a sense of upper class Englishness about most of these names... is that how you really see your fish?

But he *does* look like a Humphrey :)

  6. It's that harrumph-about-gout mouth...

  7. Carassius is cool, but I have a hard time seeing a goldfish as a gladiator.

He does look like a Humphrey IMO (or a george).

Then again, I could see SE having a gladiator for a mascot.

  8. Gotta be Fin McCool (Fionn mac Cumhaill) /g/

  9. I'm still going with Authrum (author + aurum) because I'd like to be an author someday and Sterling Editing has been gold for me.

  10. How about Edward, Eddie, Edd, Ed? Plays nicely with editor, editing, and so on.

    E says Cleo or Earl.

  11. Dunno about his formal name, but ...

I'd have to call him "Louie the Lip" -- i know a mobster when i see one.

  12. The sorts of thing that occur to me are complicated puns on sterling and gold, such as Orling or Auling or Auliver.
