This is the first nine minutes (8 mins 43 seconds) of the second Aud novel, Stay. I have two more Stay readings for next week and the week after--one is quite long. Then, hmmn, I'll switch to something else. Another song perhaps. Enjoy.

Thank you for continuing to post these snippets of your novels. I am sure it is time consuming and bothersome but do know they are greatly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteYes, I appreciate them too.
ReplyDeleteI've always thought that opening was very powerful. Perfect. I fell in love with that place, her refuge, and I know that need for isolation.
Aud rhymes with shroud. Wow, I'd forgotten that line.
Audio books have never interested to me, but I can see the appeal now.
rory, jennifer, the more I do it, the easier it gets. (I just have to let go of the notion of perfection.) I've got my office set up now so that it takes about ten seconds to prep to read. Hmmn. I should take a picture of my office and write about it...
ReplyDeleteI think this is one of my favorite readings by you. I can't say if it's the passage or that your voice has a special quality this time that others didn't. Or maybe I'm just having one of those days when things are brighter.
ReplyDeletePost a picture of your office? And you'll write about it? Like in a Writers' Rooms entry? *claps in excitement* (would jump, but chair-bound)
You'll be so happy when you get that Mac. It's a fully functional plug-and-play recording studio. GarageBand makes podcasting and anything-audio so simple.
Yes, on Monday: three pix of my office, with descriptions.
ReplyDeleteI have decided that a prequisite for any relationship of substance will be determined on how well she can read to me while in bed.
ReplyDeleteYour voice is soothing and relaxing. I just close my eyes, listen, and see Aud on the roof, hear the drone of the plane, and inhale the scent of the forest...
To me, your voice has a little buzz of electricity that bites and etches the words, and the words are elastic and strong: a winning combination.
ReplyDeleteLinda, Kelley and I used to read to each other in bed, but it didn't last long--there always seemed to be much more interesting things to do :)
ReplyDeletebarbara, I'm glad you like it. To me, the home-made recordings sound pretty ordinary. The professional in-the-studio interviews though, those I think sound cool. But right now we're stuck with homemade, so I'm glad you like 'em.
